Defining your medical needs: first and foremost, what type of doctor do you need? Normally a General Practitioner is your primary medical resource who treats you an on-going long-term basis when you are sick and help you stay healthy. Then, your GP can refer you to specialists if and when you need more intensive care.

Research: check the listings in the Turks Caicos Yello Directory and then do your homework. You need to look for a doctor who is qualified to give quality care, and has the training/background that meets your personal needs. A physician’s licenses and other medical credentials are excellent indicators of experience, but not always a gauge for quality.

Call the doctor’s office: when you feel comfortable that you’ve found some doctors that may be interested in talking to, do just that – call their office. Asking how many days a week the doctor is available for appointments, average wait time, are early morning or evening appointments offered, house calls – may all affect your decision.
