30th Annual International Fishing Tournament
Bonaire’s annual fishing tournament attracts both local and international fishermen to join in on the fun. Each year, talented fishermen travel from neighbouring islands like Aruba and Curacao to compete in this seasonal event.
The international portion is a Catch and Release Bill Fish Tournament. With multiple challenges throughout the day and cash prizes available, the competition becomes extremely competitive. The local fishing tournament welcomes boats of all different sizes and those native to the island. The object of this tournament is to showcase the skills possessed by the local fishermen of Bonaire.
Everyone has different fishing strategies and goals when out at sea, some fish for the biggest catch they can get and others fish for quantity.
“It Rains Fishes Bar and Restaurant” will provide food and act as host for this event. Food is included for fishermen and attendees are welcome to purchase meals throughout the tournament. Cultural and delicious food such as American, Creole and barbeque buffets will be available as well as a full bar and cold drinks.
The fishing tournaments will take place from 25th to 29th January, 2017.
